You loved her first

Since I have adopted Kassidy and she has come into my life and been my daughter, I view things and hear things much differently. For example when I hear songs, the meaning is different for me. When Kassidy was a few months old I heard the song "Keeper of the stars" by Tracy Bryd -- It says it was no accident me finding you, someone hand a hand in it long before we ever knew -- then the chorus says - I tip my hat to the keeper of the stars he sure knew what he was doing when he joined these two hearts , I hold everything when I hold you in my arms, now I have all I will ever need thanks to the keeper of the stars -- So ofcourse this made me think of Goldlielocks and babybear and our relationship. So I was listening to the radio the other day - yes it was something else besides Elmo, Barney or Kidz bop! I heard the song I Loved Her First by Heartland and it is about a father and his realtionship with his daughter as she is getting married well here are the lyrics (I am changing father to mother) this is the chorus
I loved her first and I held her first
And a place in my heart will always be hers
From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a mother runs deep
And I prayed that she'd find you someday
But it still hard to give her away
I loved her first
Someday you might know what I'm going through
When a miracle smiles up at you
I loved her first
and there are other parts to the song - but oh my I so thought of Goldilocks and her love for baby bear--- She loved her first - before I even knew my daughter or saw my daughter she loved her first! Wow--- I may have a lot of firsts in her life now but that really melts my heart to know that she got that first-- what a special tie to always have to someone. She truely loved her first.

I just love your heart and your thoughtfulness...both of those songs pull at my heart strings too.......

Isn't it just amazing how we tend to LOOK at everything in a different light once adopition has touched our lives!!!

Those are two beautiful songs. I can totally see your "take" on them. Very true.

I almost named my blog..Keeper of the Stars but it was already taken..

(Nacom commenter) I just went to a wedding where they played that song. It's perfect for your family. I love how your relationship with Goldilocks & fam makes baby bear's world complete. :)

What great lyrics! I have three bio boys and we are on the waiting list to adopt a daughter from South Korea - hopefully we will get a referral by this time next year! I am not sure of the title but the song that goes -"I loved you before I met you..." makes me tear up whenever I hear it. Because this baby that I have no idea about and who isn't even born yet, already has a place in my heart.
