Memorial Day Visit

We had the best visit with goldilocks (baby bears bmom) for Memorial Day!!!! We had so much fun! I just love our visits - we have another and longer one on the fourth!
The hardest part is saying goodbye, but I guess that is just part of it since we are all so close! Just wanted to share a few pics of our special day!!!!

10 months old today!!!

Well baby bear is 10 months old today!!!!! She wants to do everything on her own-- I really just treasure her indendence!!!! Ofcourse we usually end up with food everywhere and big messess, but that's o.k., messes clean up! In this picture she can not decide if she wants to feed herself or play peek-a-boo with the bowl!!!! She is just sooo becoming her own little person, everyday with her is such an adventure, she has this sense of wonder about her that is just magical -- I am so in love with this little person that came in to my life 10 months ago!

Bmothers Day/Mothers Day

Dear: Goldilocks,

There is so much I want to say to you but it is so very hard to find words that really mirror what I am feeling. I have always wanted to be a mom since I can remember. Unlike most people I came to motherhood in a different way. My journey to motherhood starting with having a meeting with a stranger arranged by social workers. I still remember the first time I saw you, I felt such a connection with you, like you know when you meet someone and instantly know they will be a part of your life forever? Well that is how I felt when we meet. You and I share one of the strongest bonds two people could share and that is our daughter. I feel so connected to you each and everday, when I look at baby bear I see so much of you. I just really wanted to say thank you for being a part of our lives, I love the way things are between us and as the years go by baby bear will see how special our relationship is. And my gut was right from our first meeting -- we will always be connected in a special way forever!
With all my love,
Mamma Bear

Life is good!!

Well, I have been busy with baby bear and pappa bear coming home, so I have kinda neglected my blog (which I actually have really enjoyed). I keep trying to think of some thought provoking or profound topic to post about and really - life has been pretty ordinary lately and I am loving it!!!! Baby Bear loves books!! Being an early childhood educator this makes me sooo happy! She is clapping all the time, this is her new thing and she thinks it is the neatest thing -- ofcourse so do I!!! We have a trip coming up very soon to see Goldilocks, I am very excited about that! Like I said life is just plain and simple delightfully boring right now -- and I wouldn't have it any other way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know what's gonna happen now.....

Well if I've heard it once I have heard it a thousand times!!!! Now that you have adopted you will get pregnant. Well I usually shrug it off and say something like "Oh I hope so, I love being a mom". But today I guess it just slipped my mind --- I was visiting a preschool for baby bear for next year and was going to leave and surrounded by the director and teachers---- some how it came about that baby bear was adopted and someone said -- "oh my sister adopted" and I responded with oh that's great , etc. and then she said "well you know what happened a year later?" and just as serious as I could be and not giving it one thought I said --"wow she got to adopt again, that's great"! Ofcourse the million dollar answer was she got pregnant, I felt like such a dork! So is this a sign that I have maybe come to terms that I may never get pregnant, or that I am really comfortable with adoption, or that I was functioning on very little sleep and in a hurry to get to walmart and was just not thinking? Well there was really no point to this, just in retrospect I kinda found my response a little oh.. unique maybe, and just thought I would share.

The simple things

Being a mommy I have come to really relish the simply things in day to day life. Today at Olive Garden Baby Bear hit a milestone. No not one that is on the checklist or in a baby book, just one that was important to us. Ready? Drum roll please........ She Drank From A Straw!!!!!! We have been working on this a week or so, because she will not drink from a sippy cup -- not sure why, but she will push out the sippy with her tongue while making a gag noise! I think she sees us drinking from a straw and wants to be a big girl. So today I offered her the straw out of her kiddie cup and I feel the cold coming up the straw with my finger and my heart skips a beat and I look at her and those blue eyes light up and she swallows and dribbles a bit of water--- I exclaim -- yeah! yeah! and she smiles in delight from the praise-- and we have this wonderful moment! I am sure others thought we were crazy or maybe they looked at us and knew exactly why we were both grinning from ear to ear!
